Online And Bachelor’s Degree Inquiry Volume Grew Significantly In H1 2019

Since 2017, higher education inquiry volume maintained an upward trend, despite fluctuations due to seasonality, according to the H1 2019 Higher Education Inquiry Generation Review from Digital Media SolutionsTM (DMS).

Online Inquiries Drive Higher Education Volume Growth

The gap between online and campus-based program format volume widened during the past two and a half years. In H1 (January to June) 2017, online volume was 34.6% higher than campus-based volume. By H1 2019 the difference had increased to 59.5%.

In the first half of 2019, growth continued at a faster pace for online programs. H1 2019 campus-based volume was relatively flat, only growing by 1.0% half-over-half (HOH) and by 0.9% year-over-year (YOY), while H1 2019 online volume increased by 2.9% compared to H2 2018 and was up 10.8% year-over-year. Bachelor’s Degrees Dominated In H1 2019

With a 17.4% YOY volume increase, bachelor’s degrees accounted for one-third of all higher education inquiry volume in H1 2019. Bachelor’s degrees ranked the highest of all degree levels for online programs with a 33.6% share of volume (SOV) and second-highest for campus-based programs with a 34.2% SOV.
