Telehealth Services Offer A Range Of Care

March 4, 2021 Sarah Cavill

Telehealth could have multiple benefits during the pandemic by expanding access to care, reducing disease exposure for staff and patients, preserving scarce supplies of personal protective equipment and reducing patient demand on facilities. Telehealth policy changes might continue to support increased care access during and after the pandemic,” determined the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in a study that looked at the role of telehealth in the early days of the pandemic. And, indeed telehealth was, and remains, an essential part of many people’s healthcare management thanks to the adoption by medical professionals and consumers of telehealth websites and apps

Telehealth Service ‘Ro’ Offers Specialized Digital Health Clinics And A Digital Pharmacy

Founded in 2017, last year Ro secured another round of funding that will be put toward continuing the growth of the telehealth brand’s digital assets, including several online health clinics and an FDA-approved weight management aid.

Ro offers affordable, accessible healthcare to everyone. “At Ro, we believe the only way to do this [offer affordable healthcare for all] is by putting patients at the center of their care and building technology to empower providers to do what they do best — help people. This new investment [from their 2020 Series C fundraising round] will further our mission to become every patient’s first call. We’ll continue to invest in our vertically-integrated healthcare ecosystem, from our Collaborative Care Center to our national pharmacy operating system. This is just the beginning of Ro’s patient-centered healthcare platform,” said Zachariah Reitano, co-founder & CEO of Ro.

On Ro’s website, the telehealth brand notes that it has facilitated more than 6 million digital healthcare visits and provided care in 98% of the healthcare deserts around the country. Additionally, 60% of patients connected to Ro outside of regular business hours. An advantage of telehealth is the ability for patients to access it from anywhere, regardless of mobility or geography.

DispatchHealth Telehealth Brings Medical Care Directly To Patients Homes With A Seamless Online Platform

DispatchHealth Telehealth

DispatchHealth is a different kind of telehealth service. Instead of conducting medical appointments online, DispatchHealth is an online platform from which people can schedule home medical visits. Founded in 2013, the goal of DispatchHealth is to “create an integrated, convenient, high-touch care delivery solution that extends the capabilities of a patient’s care team and provides definitive, quality care in the home while decreasing costs.” People in need of care can go to the DispatchHealth website to make an appointment, use the DispatchHealth app, call to discuss their healthcare needs or choose a DispatchHealth office by location. In addition, DispatchHealth has partnered with AetnaHealth to create an online patient portal where patients can check test results and pay bills.

For many people during the pandemic, knowing when to go to the doctor, or take their kids to the doctor, has been challenging given the concerns about safety and exposure. Heal offers telemedicine to children and adults both online and in person, allowing patients to set up online telehealth appointments with the touch of a button or schedule in-person visits after online evaluations.

Founded in 2015, and considered a disruptor business “bringing house calls back,” Heal uses its comprehensive website and app to explain the benefits, costs and process of seeing a Heal doctor. “We’re bringing back old-school techniques with new-school technology,” said Renee Dua, founder and chief medical officer of Heal. Once dubbed the “Uber for Doctor Housecalls,” by The New York Times, because of the convenience and efficiency of the app, Heal has expanded to include a wealth of content on its website and now offers more medical services, including online therapy.

“Technology has the potential to improve the quality of healthcare and to make it accessible to more people. Telehealth may provide opportunities to make healthcare more efficient, better coordinated and closer to home,” said The Mayo Clinic, in an article exploring the benefits of telehealth. The innovations of telehealth, and the digital tools that make it seamless for consumers to access, has implications across healthcare. And, whether it’s app downloads or online pharmacies, digital tools are at the forefront of the emergence of telehealth as an increasingly common resource for consumers.
