Clearwater, FL – January 8, 2019 — Digital Media Solutions® (DMS), the largest single entry point for martech-enabled digital media distribution, released its 2019 Report On The State Of Business Education Demand. The report, published by DMS Education, spotlights the growth in demand for higher education business programs, particularly those delivered online, in 2019.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), business and financial operations occupations were projected to grow 7% from 2018 to 2028, faster than the average for all occupations. As a result, roughly 591,800 new jobs will be added. Supporting this trend described by BLS, the DMS Education report shares further insight into the current state of higher education business programs, including:
- Overall Growth Of Business Programs: Coinciding with a strong push from colleges and universities for higher-quality business program inquiries in 2019, the inquiry volume from prospective business students increased 9.2% between the first three quarters of 2018 and the first three quarters of 2019.
- Popularity Among Broad Business Programs: As prospective students sought out broader business industry expertise, “Business Administration and Management” was the most popular business program during the first three quarters of 2019. This program accounted for nearly half of all prospective student inquiries for campus-based business programs and close to two-thirds of all prospective student inquiries for online business programs.
- Steady Increase Of Online Degree Programs: During the first three quarters of 2019, more than 70% of prospective business students were interested in online programs. Between the start of 2017 to the third quarter of 2019, prospective students inquiring about online business programs was the fastest growing program format, jumping 60.2%.
- Bachelor Programs Remain Profitable: Bachelor-level business programs outperformed all other degree levels, with 41.2% of prospective business students throughout the first three quarters of 2019 inquiring about this degree level. Bachelor’s program inquiries had the second-highest student enrollment completion of all degree levels and produced more than half of all business program student enrollments during the first three quarters of 2019.
