Gratitude & The Power of Happiness
Every day, I am seeking to be a better version of myself than the day prior. Sharing my growth strategies reinforces the strategies for me, helping me grow more and helping those who I share them with to also grow. It is a tremendous gift for me to have opportunities, like this blog, to share my journey with my team and fellow leaders.
Recently, I watched a Ted Talk called “The How of Happiness” presented by Sonja Lyubomirsky, a leading social psychologist. I encourage anyone looking to expand and grow to watch it.
As expressed by Dr. Lyubomirsky in her Ted Talk, happiness has been scientifically proven to improve physical health, work performance, creativity and more. And the practice of showing gratitude has been scientifically proven to elevate feelings of happiness.
Dr. Lyubomirsky also notes that motivation and finding your personal style for expressing and sharing gratitude both improve happiness results. Again, it’s worth the time investment to experiment and discover what works for you — whether it’s journaling, meditating or using an app that helps you express your thoughts, because being happy results in a more productive and fulfilling life. There is no better investment than investing in yourself.
Do you have a technique that helps you express gratitude? I encourage you to share your technique with those around you, and remain willing to try out new growth strategies and techniques. The more happy and connected you are to the people around you, the more creative you’ll become together. That creativity drives growth and happiness. It’s circular, and we’re all experiencing it together.
