Investing In You, The Best Investment There Is
Here we are with just one week left in 2021 before the curtain drops and this year’s show is over. There will be much we can look back on fondly. Mostly, I will look back on all the great lessons we learned from overcoming challenges and how that led to growth.
This is an exciting week. A week during which we need to find balance between work, family time and personal time. And that leads me to my message for the week…
Last night, while I was watching TV, I saw a commercial for Whole Foods that featured images of translucent people with pictures of food behind them – fruits, vegetables, meats, etc. The message from Whole Foods: we are what we put into our bodies.
The commercial got me thinking… The real message of the commercial is that we should invest in our health and well being with quality food. But it goes further than this.
Investing in you is not just about what you eat. Investing in you requires a total mind and body approach to health and well being, with diet being just a part of that.
During the holiday season, when we have a bit of extra time on our hands, it is okay to spend some of that extra time on yourself, doing the things that make you happy and healthy. Plus, when you invest in yourself, you help yourself become the best version of you for yourself, your family and your friends.
There is pressure during the holiday season to do a bit (or a lot) of this or that. But we also need to pressure ourselves to take time for ourselves.
Truth of the matter – at least for me – is that when you have taken the time you need for yourself, you feel better and more balanced. As a result, you find yourself in a great place to show up for those around you.
So remember, the holiday season is a time to gather and enjoy each other’s company. But you also must take the time you need for yourself. Because you matter.
