Lean In To Fall In
On Sunday, I got up in the morning and decided to switch up my routine. Now that I can, I am back to running on Sundays. However, this week I wanted to do something different. I specifically wanted to find some quiet time to think. I remembered the Becoming Supernatural book I often recommend and the idea of walking meditation. I decided to give it a go by doing a quick check in with my audio book to review and then I went out for a walking meditation.
During this meditation, I was inspired by the idea of falling in love with your future. It led me to the concept of leaning in hard on your future, so hard that you ultimately fall right into it.
What does it mean to lean in to fall in?
Leaning in hard to fall into your future is the process of first envisioning what you want for your health, your relationships and your work and then taking the steps to move into that future on an accelerated basis, as if it is happening today.
It means creating a vision for what your best life looks like and visualizing it daily, making it real for yourself and then leaning into a daily process and routine that is focused on helping you achieve that vision. This process should lead you to fall in love with that vision of the future.
And….
Falling in love with your future is what naturally happens when you lean into what you want your life to look like so much that you literally fall into it.
You become it.
This process will lead you to….
Literally begin to walk the walk….
Dress the part and….
Become the person you visualized yourself to be.
Visualize Who You Want To Become
Start by thinking of what your best life truly looks like. Focus on what is important to you and why. Imagine all aspects of your life and what you want it to become.
Then, write it down.
Capture your thoughts, record your inspirations and remind yourself daily of who you want to be.
Create a list and keep it in an area where you can see it every day. Physically seeing the illustration of what your ideal future looks like will help you stay focused on accelerating your progress toward that future.
Remember, moving closer to the future you want starts with keeping yourself accountable to your goals and what matters most to you.
Develop Routines Designed To Help You Establish Your Ideal Future
After you’ve clearly visualized your future, develop a process and practice routines to help you pursue your vision. Assign an actionable task to each item on your list. Keep track of your successes and small wins, as each milestone pulls your future closer to you.
Suggestion: Take regular walks outdoors, and focus / meditate on the steps you are taking to move you toward your best life.
When you consistently and persistently commit to daily habits, processes and routines, you are one step closer to achieving the future of your design.
Moving Toward The Future You Choose
In its simplest form, many business leaders do this each year during their annual budget process. They envision the future and they remind themselves of it almost daily through the processes and routines inside their structured environment.
Through this process and in this environment, you move forward, taking another step toward making that future your reality.
This same process works across all areas of life, both personal and professional.
I encourage you to drive change and impact in your life by embracing the practices of visualization and the power of routines and processes.
Lean into the process and as a result you will fall into your future.
