Over the past few months, I have talked a lot about the power of positive energy and making decisions with respect, integrity, gratitude and love. With that, I want to reinforce one specific idea:
No force in the universe has power over you, unless you give that force power in your thoughts.
What does this mean?
You control your emotional response to what others say and do. Don’t let what others say and do influence you in a way that results in you giving anyone power over you and your thoughts.
Process information with an unbiased viewpoint, and don’t take things personally. People are going to say and do things that you may not like or agree with from time to time. It’s okay for that to happen, just make sure you don’t let yourself get emotionally wrapped up in it.
A positive attitude and gratitude will always win the day and steer you clear of trouble. Conversely, egocentric thinking will point you in the wrong direction. When you let your ego take control, it’s usually because you want power and control, often for reasons that don’t make sense. Egocentric behavior usually stems from the unconscious, meaning you’re not present in the now. If you sense egocentric behavior within you, take action to immediately replace it with gratitude and appreciation, and watch the positive energy find you.
