What Is Our New Normal?
Last week, I witnessed the power of physical proximity firsthand when we had a small gathering at the DMS headquarters
It was amazing to be together with team members I had not seen in over a year.
The day was super productive, and when the day concluded, we realized we had walked away with a lesson: physical proximity is an accelerator for connections and growth.
Our new normal must involve proximity and gathering together.
It has been some time since we have been able to gather and get together, and that togetherness is something we have missed.
Togetherness was missed because it is a driver of connection.
It’s hard to say exactly what the new normal will be. However, I know what our new normal is not.
Our new normal will not be long daily commutes or incessant travel.
Instead, our new normal will incorporate:
- Flexible schedules
- Working from home
- Significantly less time commuting
- Connection and gathering points
- Efficient travel to maximize the use of our time
- A better quality of life
The Modern Workplace Has Changed.
We must establish new best practices for a modern workforce. We must prioritize people, understanding we are not all the same, and our differences make us stronger. And, as a result of creating a better quality of life, our teams will flourish – individually and together.
