Senior Accountant – Payroll & Commissions

Reports to:  Sr. Director of Accounting Operations

Summary  

Based out of Clearwater, FL and a leading provider of technology-enabled digital performance advertising solutions, Digital Media Solutions has an urgent and immediate need for a Senior Accountant – Payroll & Commissions to join our team. The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing the accounting for payroll, commissions and related costs. They are an exceptional leader, with a high level of attention to detail, and are expected to meet deadlines and department KPIs in order to maintain the financial health and success of the organization. 

Responsibilities & Duties  

  • Oversees the accounting for the full cycle of payroll workflow to ensure timely recording of payroll and commissions, and meet other KPIs.
  • Gain full understanding of commission plans for multiple legal entities and oversee commission calculations and submission in a timely manner. 
  • Gain full understanding of and complete pay period reconciliations for multiple legal entities in a timely manner. Ensure the completion of reconciliations for payroll accounts are completed monthly.
  • Oversee monthly close in the payroll and commissions areas, ensure journal entries that need to be completed are done timely and accurately in ERP systems.
  • Complete payroll and commission reconciliations on a pay-period, quarterly, and annual basis to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Review, evaluate and assess the accuracy of payroll processing to ensure accurate reporting, tax filing and account reconciliations.
  • Prepare payroll and commission reports as required and/or needed. Oversees the proper extraction, analysis and reconciliation of high volumes of divisional payroll data in order to identify any data integrity issues before importing into the ERP system.
  • Support, lead and direct the development of new, simplified and streamlined payroll and commission processes; create process maps and oversee development of standard operating procedures and associated procedures. 
  • Ensures compliance with internal controls, which adhere to SEC and GAAP regulations as a public company.
  • Has the ability to confidently present data and reporting for Executives, C-Suites, Board of directors and outside partners.
  • Looks for areas of opportunity, and process improvements to improve the overall financial health of the organization.
  • Coordinates with annual audit and quarterly review for audit requests, documentation and support. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting, preferred 
  • 5+ years of accounting experience with a focus on payroll and commissions, management experience a plus
  • Experience working in a publicly traded organization, preferred 
  • Proficient in Netsuite, Paylocity, highly preferred
  • Knowledge and awareness of U.S. and Canada payroll tax rules, with the ability to effectively translate into operational delivery
  • Experience with Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Advanced Excel skills and comfortable dealing with large volumes of data
  • Ability to work well under deadlines and impeccable attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills, including proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain a high-level of confidentiality
  • This position can be performed anywhere except Colorado

Compensation

The anticipated range for individuals expressing interest in this position is $75,000 - $90,000. Actual compensation offered to a candidate may vary based upon geographic location, work experience, education and/or skill levels.
