Though rumors have been circulating for quite some time, Facebook only just announced its initiative to place ad inserts in WhatsApp, the messaging app, during the Facebook Marketing Summit last month.
What Are WhatsApp Ads?
WhatsApp ads will be visible in the Status feature of the WhatsApp app as soon as 2020. 9to5Google reported, “Like Instagram Stories, [consumers] will be able to swipe up [on an ad] to visit a promotional page or website associated with the brand.” WhatsApp is avoiding banner ads as many consumers find them too intrusive.
