Donation To Be Made Despite Proactive Postponement Of Fundraiser Due To Coronavirus Risks
Clearwater, FL - March 9, 2020 - Digital Media Solutions® (DMS) has reaffirmed its pledge to donate $100,000 to Headstrong, a nonprofit provider of confidential, cost-free and frictionless mental health care treatment for military veterans and their families.
In January, DMS announced its second-annual DMS Heroes & Legends Ultramarathon, a 220-mile fundraiser relay race across the state of Florida. Due to current Coronavirus-related concerns, including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declaring a public health emergency for the state of Florida, DMS has postponed its Ultramarathon event and the related DMS Heroes & Legends Gala. Despite the postponement of the fundraiser, DMS has reaffirmed its pledge to donate $100,000 to Headstrong. The donation is promised by April 26, the date the Ultramarathon was scheduled to conclude.
“Our people come first,” noted Joe Marinucci, DMS CEO. “During crisis and always, the most respectable companies prioritize the welfare of their teams and their families, and they stand by their promises. Veteran suicide prevention resources are needed as much now as ever, so even though we have to delay our Ultramarathon, there is no need to delay our support of Headstrong.”
Last week, DMS announced its plan to ban all non-critical travel, including attendance at LeadsCon Las Vegas 2020, a conference for which DMS is a platinum sponsor. The DMS travel ban will continue until the World Health Organization (WHO) or the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) scale back their concerns related to travel and large gatherings. The annual DMS Summit, a meeting of DMS leaders from across its 14 offices, has also been postponed. That event was scheduled for late April.
